Richard J. Murphy has practiced as a litigator throughout his career. Richard received his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1997. Since then, he has been committed to representing and advocating on behalf of individuals who have been injured or otherwise affected by the actions of others.
With his own firm, he is continuing that work and focusing his practice on special education law. Richard is the father of a twice exceptional child (i.e., gifted but otherwise learning challenged) and is making sure that his son is getting the appropriate education for his divergent needs.
Richard J. Murphy began his career in Chicago representing workers and their families injured by exposure to asbestos. While at the Law Office of Terrence M. Johnson, Esq., he was part of the legal team of attorneys who tried the wrongful death case of an Asbestos Worker who died from asbestosis. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the family in the amount of $3.67 million.
In addition, Richard J. Murphy negotiated settlement agreements in connection with the settlement of over 200 cases in excess of $20 million.
Richard J. Murphy has represented hundreds of clients in personal injury and workers' compensation actions including medical malpractice, construction injuries, auto accidents, and nursing home abuse and neglect cases.
